St. John's Wives' Group

St. John's Wives' Group meets on alternate Wednesdays in the church hall at 7:45pm for fellowship and good speakers.  New members welcome.

For more information contact us.

The Men's Group

The Group has maintained a limited attempt to visit the increasing number of sick and housebound men in the Parish. Some of the 7 members of the group have themselves been affected by personal or family sickness and it has not always been possible to achieve the hoped-for success.

The Men's' Group meets at 8pm on the first Monday of each month, in St. John's choir vestry (entrance from the car park), provides for serious discussion on church and other matters.

For more information contact us.

The Fellowship Group

The Fellowship Group meets on the fourth Monday of the month at different addresses. Details are always published on the pew sheet.  There is currently a poster on display in the church porch. This year we are looking at characters in the Bible and a few people take it in turns to lead.

The group is formed from about nine people at present but we hope that others will come along to look at the Bible, pray together and to grow together in knowledge of God and all that he showed in Jesus Christ.

For more information contact us.

The Third World Group

During the year, the group organised several successful events, and along with donations, rainy day bags and fair trade commission over £1,200 was raised.  We have been able to respond to three major disaster appeals as well as supporting the Christian Blind Mission and our “adopted” charity “Action Water”.

In March we helped with a Fairtrade stand in Safeway, raising awareness of Fairtrade products and giving away free samples.  Drawing attention to poverty and injustice in Third World countries is also a very important part of our work. Many fairly traded products are now available in local supermarkets due to consumer pressure and we need to keep this pressure on.

Anyone is welcome to join us, or let us know of any fundraising ideas, or worthy causes in the developing world, which we might be able to support. We hope the group continues to thrive.

Traidcraft fairtrade products are for sale after church, on the first Sunday of the month.
